We are halfway finished building an after-school nutrition kitchen that will serve our after-school programs with nutrition and cooking classes and hands on experience. From the garden to the plate… the seed first passing through the hands of the youth to the ground. This fits right alongside our greenhouse classroom and community gardens. This is also just one more opportunity to match students with mentors they may have never had. For the older students this is also an opportunity to participate, watch, or start food related entrepreneurial opportunities in one very disadvantage neighborhood. We are almost there. Budget is $20,000 to finish.
