Volunteer Saturday Tour: A huge part of our mission is equipping others. We are seeking every possible means to fund our time to be of service. In the mean time we are really limited to giving tours during our Saturday Volunteer Work Days. Every Saturday of the year we will meet at 1110 Myrtle Ave at 9am for our volunteer workdays. We will serve a big lunch and then give a tour of our facilities. It is a lot of fun, come on out, bring some gloves and a water bottle. We have all the tools. It is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet and network with some really cool people, and work on some great projects. Email: Volunteer
Agritourism: Stay a few days on the Farm!
Come stay on the farm with us, and immerse yourself in the day to day life on the Urban Farm and MakerSpace. Accommodations are a private bedroom, common Living Room, dining room, kitchen in a large house that may be shared with other interns or resident artists/makers/farmers. We have off street parking, all on-site of the Urban Farm. During your stay you will also get a tour of the farm (Mon-Sat) , aquaponics facility, honey bees, fish hatchery, 25kw solar power unit, rabbits, chickens, hugelkultur, 3000 gallon water catchment, greenhouses, and more.. During your stay you are welcome to get involved as little or as much as you want on the day to day work of the farm or the makerspace, or you can take the day to tour around Kansas City as we are within 2 miles of Downtown KC. Volunteering is welcome and there is a lot of fun stuff to get your hands dirty with. Aside from the tour, we must warn you that we are very busy and will be hard at work during your stay and will not have much free time at this point as there is alot of work to do on the farm, but it should be friendly and fun. So if it sounds like a fit to you, come on out and join us! Accommodations are $50 per person per night, minimum of 2 nights, with this you also get a day pass to the makerspace M-Sat. Buy 5 nights get 2 free. Group pricing is the same, we can often accomodate up to 15 people. If you want to stay for longer, you may consider our internship program in which accommodations are covered. We are always in need of highly talented Makers, Artists, Engineers, Farmers, Welders, Woodworkers, Mechanics. etc. If you have lots of skills and would like to contribute some volunteer time in exchange for room and access to studio space we would be delighted for you to apply for a residence. The UFG Internship is a four-week volunteer experience working in the Lykins Neighborhood community of Kansas City. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are eager to assist the UFG with our mission to help disadvantaged communities rebuild from within. This is an intense and deeply creative experience that will challenge you entrepreneurially to create and establish sustainable processes, technologies, and create & launch thriving economic forces that will empower blighted inner-city communities.
